Schacht-Audorf is located directly on the Kiel Canal, which is considered the town’s greatest attraction. From the Kiek-Ut viewing platform, you can watch seagoing vessels; at the same time, the view extends towards the railway high bridge. The Schacht-Audorf motorhome park is also located directly on the Kiel Canal and has a service station.

Cycling

In Rendsburg-Eckernförde, there are five long-distance cycling routes, five e-bike tours and twelve themed routes ranging from 24 to 79 kilometres in length. The 325-kilometre NOK Route runs mostly along the Kiel Canal and offers views of passing container ships and cruise ships as well as large seagoing vessels. In some sections, the route leaves the canal bank to reach points of interest.

Signposted cycle paths pass through natural areas and by cultural monuments, historic sites and other attractions, mostly along roads with little traffic. Some routes can be shortened and are considered particularly suitable for families.

Nature and History

In Schacht-Audorf, you can explore nature trails. The nearby Dörpsee natural bathing lake has diving boards and a bathing island. After the railway was decommissioned in 1975, most of the former industrial railway line in Schacht-Audorf was converted into a walking trail.

Culture

The village museum in Schacht-Audorf presents exhibitions documenting everyday village life and its historical changes. It also preserves an archive containing documents, newspaper reports and photographs.
