Thumby is home to Sieseby, a thatched-roof village on the Schlei. In 2000, the village was designated as Schleswig-Holstein’s first protected historic area; its historic thatched-roof workers’ houses were restored. Sieseby has a landing stage on the Schlei, which is served by public boat services on the Schlei during the summer months. Near the historic former ferry landing, there is also an accessible canoe launch with a slipway. Access is via Dorfstraße and Alter Schulweg; parking is available in the village.
