Erfde: Hotels and Accommodation
Erfde is located on a geest island formed as an ancient moraine. The surrounding landscape is home to numerous bogs and wetlands. In the centre of the village stands St. Mary Magdalene Church, a Romanesque fieldstone church dating from the 12th century. Inside, a votive ship commemorates shipping on the Eider.
Landscape and History
The connection between landscape and river is also evident in the district of Bargen. The Bargen ferry connects Erfde-Bargen with Delve-Schwienhusen across the Eider. It carries passengers with or without bicycles and is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Water and Trails
Bargen has extensive walking and horse-riding trails that form a circular route through the landscape. By the water, the Bargen marina for recreational boats in Erfde has 72 berths, a landing stage for passenger ships and a wastewater pumping station. Directly next to it, the Bargen canoe rest area offers a canoe launch site and places to rest.
Bargen bathing area is an unguarded natural bathing area on the Eider. Visitors will find a sunbathing lawn there, as well as play equipment for children and sanitary facilities.
Culture and Information
The Stapelholm-Huus is located in the district of Bargen, which belongs to Erfde, and houses a museum and a weaving room. Advance registration is recommended for group visits. The Stapelholm-Huus information centre has a selection of tourist brochures available; it also offers an adjoining coworking area.
Leisure in the Village
The Erfde outdoor pool has a 1,000-square-metre pool with separate areas for diving, playing and swimming. It also includes a toddlers’ pool with a small slide, water toys, a sandbox and a playhouse.
