Freienwill: Hotels and Accommodation

Hollmarksee is a spring-fed inland lake in Freienwill. After a drainage ditch to the Kielstau was constructed in 1906, its area decreased from 4.05 to 1.9 hectares. It has been used as a bathing lake since the early 1920s.

Nature and Water

Hollmarksee has a non-swimmer area for children, a bathing island, and a separate island with a diving tower. Changing rooms and sanitary facilities are also available. The kiosk has a large outdoor terrace and serves refreshments and snacks. The large sunbathing lawn includes both sunny and shaded areas.

Parking is available at Hollmarksee. The way to the lake is signposted from the junction on the road between Freienwill and Oeversee.

Landscape and Paths

The municipality describes Höckberg as Freienwill's local mountain; it is 82 metres above sea level. In clear weather, views from the Höckberg area extend east as far as Satrup and Sörup, south towards Schleswig, and west towards Großenwiehe. In the forest north of the Höckberg transmitter, there are paths for walking and recreation.

Cycling Through Historic Landscapes

The 29-kilometre Uggelhardetour runs through the historic Uggelharde region. Hollmarksee and its bathing area are listed as an attraction along the Uggelhardetour. The route is signposted locally, follows a circular course, and can be joined at any point. It also follows a section of the historic Ox Road.

Culture and History

St. John's Church in Kleinsolt is located in Freienwill and is a fieldstone building from the 12th century. The church and churchyard are classified as historically, artistically, architecturally and urbanistically, and in terms of the cultural landscape, significant.
