Hasselberg is considered a rural municipality on the open Baltic Sea, surrounded by fertile fields and natural meadows. As a state-recognized holiday resort, the town is located directly on the Baltic Sea and combines a coastal setting with a wide-open landscape.

Coast and beach

Hasselberg Beach has designated nudist and dog beach areas. During the season, the Kronsgaard/Hasselberg bathing beach is monitored by the DLRG. Hasselberg Beach has step-free access; a beach wheelchair is available free of charge at the water rescue station. Two beach chairs can be reached by wheelchair via a paved path, while the toilets are located in the DLRG station.

The Hasselberg Tourist Information Office is located directly on the B199 and is considered easily accessible.

Nature and trails

The circular hiking trail Dike paths & forest trails near Hasselberg is 4.82 kilometers long and classified as moderately difficult. It follows the sea between Hasselberg and Kronsgaard, leads through forests and open meadows, and begins at Hasselberg Campsite directly next to the Baltic Sea beach.

The Geltinger Birk nature reserve is located nearby. It covers 773 hectares on a peninsula at the entrance to the Flensburg Fjord. Around 170 bird species can be observed there over the course of a year; guided walks are also regularly offered around Geltinger Birk by a nature warden.

Experiences and culture

The barefoot park in Hasselberg offers stations for barefoot play, sensory experiences, and balancing on surfaces such as marsh, peat, and wood over more than 1.5 kilometers. It also features a petting zoo with native animals and an 18-hole miniature golf course.

The Johannesmühle is a cultural monument associated with the history of mill construction in Schleswig-Holstein. The two-story gallery Dutch windmill has a wooden mill body above an octagonal masonry base; the tower and cap are thatched.
