Svalöv between plains, Söderåsen and culture

The southern part of Svalöv Municipality consists of fertile plains, while the northern part is home to Söderåsen, with beech forests, striking valleys and ravines. Söderåsen is known for its distinctive geology, flora and numerous beech forests.

The destination includes the localities of Kågeröd, Billeberga, Röstånga, Svalöv and Teckomatorp.

Nature

Söderåsen National Park covers 1,625 hectares, 58 percent of which lies in Svalöv Municipality. The landscape also includes Lake Odensjön, which is surrounded by 30-metre-high cliffs and is 19 metres deep. There is a shelter and a floating jetty at Lake Odensjön; however, the lake is not an official bathing site.

Jällabjär is an extinct volcano whose basalt forms nutrient-rich soil as it weathers. Two marked circular trails, each 3 kilometres long, run through beech forest and grazed juniper heathland. At the southern entrance to Jällabjär, there is a shelter with a fire pit and a toilet.

The Traneröds mosse, Grindhus and Lilla Klåveröd area lies partly within Svalöv Municipality and is protected as a nature reserve and a Natura 2000 site. Traneröds mosse is one of the few raised bogs in western Skåne to have escaped drainage, peat extraction and cultivation. A 400-metre accessible boardwalk leads to Traneröds mosse and back.

The Svenstorp-Bolshus fälad nature reserve comprises varied grazing land, wet meadows and smaller wooded areas; almost 300 species have been recorded in the area. The nature reserve can be explored via small roads and paths or by walking freely across the terrain; there are rest areas and a small car park.

Trails and activities

The Ås till Ås Trail runs for approximately 25 kilometres through Svalöv Municipality. North of the Klåveröd Nature Reserve, there is a 5.3-kilometre mountain-biking loop. Klåverödsdammen offers fishing opportunities, and at Snuvestuan in the Klåveröd area there are several natural climbing walls.

Culture and history

Svalöv Sculpture Park is located by Lake Svalövssjön. A sculpture trail runs through Svalöv, allowing visitors to walk from the lake in the north to Felestad in the south.

Skånelin offers courses and activities related to flax processing. On certain days, Skånelin is open to the public, who can learn about the processing of flax there. The Svalöv Fire Brigade Museum displays, among other things, a 1929 Ford fire engine, a horse-drawn vehicle and firefighting equipment.

Knutstorp is the birthplace of the astronomer Tycho Brahe. During track days at Ring Knutstorp, visitors can drive their own cars on the racing circuit.

Stenestad Church was built during the Romanesque period. Treudden near Magleröd is a very rare example in Skåne of an Iron Age type of burial. Stenestad has a village character representative of the small church villages in the intermediate and forest regions, as it developed during the 19th century.

Röstånga and local character

The southern entrance to Söderåsen National Park is located in Röstånga, by the tourist information centre. The tourist information centre in Röstånga rents out bicycles. Svalöv Municipality has small cafés and restaurants for visitors.
