Bajstrup between moorland, cycling routes and history

Bajstrup can be explored from three specific perspectives: along cycling routes between several locations, through Tinglev Mose in the surrounding area and at a memorial site in Tinglev. The selection ranges from a signposted cycling route to a moorland area with a walking trail and a historic monument.

Cycling through the surrounding area

The signposted local cycling route LC 16 is 27.0 km long and runs between Tinglev, Uge, Bjerndrup and Bajstrup. At 27.0 kilometres, the route is significantly longer than the 5 km walking trail in Tinglev Mose. Cyclists can plan their journey around a fixed route length and a sequence of four locations. For cyclists, the fixed length of LC 16 provides a concrete planning basis for a tour between several locations.

Tinglev Mose natural area

In the surrounding area of Bajstrup, Tinglev Mose is an EU Special Protection Area for birds. At the same time, the moor is home to a diverse range of wildlife. This diverse wildlife also makes the moorland interesting for nature observation.

From Bajstrup, Tinglev Mose can be reached via Visgårdsvej. A signposted minor road leads north to a car park near the birdwatching tower. The northward direction adds a specific point of orientation near the birdwatching tower to the access route.

In Tinglev Mose, a marked 5 km walking trail offers an opportunity to explore the area on foot. Around 600 metres of the Tinglev Mose walking trail run along a boardwalk through the marshland. For day planning, the two paths differ in length: the entire walking trail covers 5 km, while the boardwalk accounts for around 600 metres of it. The boardwalk remains part of the marked walking trail.

Remembrance in Tinglev and Bajstrup

A monument was inaugurated on 19 September 1925 in the cemetery by the church in Tinglev. With inscriptions in English, French, Russian and Danish, it commemorates soldiers who died in the camp near Bajstrup. In addition to the monument in the cemetery by the church in Tinglev, there are 16 gravestones. They mark the graves of one French soldier, six Russian soldiers and nine English soldiers.
