Haderslev between the Old Town, the Dam and history

Haderslev combines historic townscapes with nature experiences along the dam. The town has been a merchant town for 700 years. In the Old Town, cobblestone streets shape the townscape; the old market square is lined with well-preserved houses from the 16th century. Old Town and ecclesiastical history

Haderslev Cathedral is a historic building with ecclesiastical art and furnishings. Visitors are welcome there. Gammel Haderslev Church is named Sct. Severin Church and is believed to be Haderslev’s oldest church. Together with the old market square and the cobblestone streets, the churches make the town’s long history visible in specific places.

The Dam, cruise and park

Haderslev’s dam can also be viewed from the water. The Haderslev Dam Boat has four landing stages along its route. A round trip with stops takes about 1.5 hours. At Arkæologi Haderslev, visitors can dress up in clothing from the Iron Age, Renaissance and Bronze Age. Håndværkeriet is a creative offering for everyone in Haderslev. The museums combine regional history, historic buildings and creative design. Alongside its archaeological and historical content, Håndværkeriet therefore provides its own creative focus. The museum themes thus range from archaeological finds and historic buildings to creating things yourself.

The Camino Haderslev Næs route provides orientation through a series of stages. It begins at Haderslev Cathedral and leads through Haderslev and the surrounding area in nine stages. The nine stages allow the route through Haderslev and the surrounding area to be planned step by step. The Haderslev Vægter Museum is located at Højgade 6, in the basement beneath the town’s old police station. It conveys the history of the Haderslev Vægterlaug and stories about the work of the night watchmen. On the “Vægtergangen”, night watchmen can be experienced in Haderslev’s old streets. For scheduling purposes, dates are given on Tuesdays and Thursdays in weeks 26 to 35 from 8:30 p.m., with a duration of about 1.5 hours.
