Gräddö combines maritime activities with a multifaceted history by the water. The town is located along the Furusundsleden, a sea route used by ships traveling between Stockholm and Åland. Maritime Starting Point for Boats and Kayaks

Gräddö's guest harbor has visitor berths with electricity. Fuel is available directly at the jetty at the marina. These two documented amenities make the harbor a concrete port of call when exploring Gräddö by boat or focusing your stay on the maritime surroundings. Gräddö is also a starting point for trips to Lidö.

Shallow Sea Area and Sandy Beach

Near Gräddö lies the shallow sea area between Gräddö-Asken and the skerries and islands to the east. Birds feed and breed there.

At Gräddö Beach, Björkö Örn, there is a 90-meter-long sandy beach.

Historical Traces by the Water

Gräddö's history is closely connected with travel and shipbuilding in several ways. By the end of the 19th century, Gräddö had become a popular destination. A hot-bath house was moved to Gräddö-Asken in 1920. Gräddö båtvarv was founded in 1924; motor sailers and cruisers were built there. These details mark different stages: tourism history, an earlier bathing operation and the construction of larger watercraft.

The Sladdstycket local heritage museum is located in the nearby Riddersholm Nature Reserve, directly along the Furusundsleden.

Rådmansö Bygdegård also points to an earlier maritime function. It is housed in a building from 1906 that was formerly a ship chandlery. Historical Ferry Service and Getting There

The connection across the water also played a role in ferry services. In 1959, Viking Line began ferry service from Gräddö to Mariehamn on Åland. As early as the following year, this historic ferry service was moved to Kapellskär. Both details belong to the past and do not describe a current ferry connection. For arrival, it is documented that Gräddö can be reached from Norrtälje by car via Rådmansö in an easterly direction.

Events and Local Atmosphere

Rådmansödagen features stalls selling handicrafts. The event also includes a café serving homemade pastries. These two elements provide a different emphasis from the harbor, kayaking and seafaring history: they add handicrafts and a culinary stop to the way the town is experienced, without presupposing a specific event date.
