Huddinge already reveals its special diversity in its forest areas: Flemingsbergsskogen encompasses one of the largest trackless forest areas in Stockholm County, while Paradiset is Huddinge’s largest contiguous forest area. The entire Huddingeleden trail passes through Huddinge and 13 protected natural areas.
The immediate local area of Huddinge includes Huddinge, Flemingsberg, Segeltorp and Vårby. Other destinations at the same level are Lidingö, Sigtuna, Ekerö and Nacka.
Nature and Trails
In the Gladö Kvarnsjön nature reserve, you can hike along the Sörmlandsleden trail; Nyboviksbadet in the same nature reserve offers good swimming opportunities. The route between Sundby Gård and the Björksättra peninsula is wheelchair accessible, with wide paths and floating bridges across Lake Orlången.
Paradiset offers opportunities for hiking, nature study and sport fishing. The Stenbergsleden hiking trail, also known as Gröna spåret, runs between Sundby and Visättra through rocky pine forest, spruce forest, marshland and pastureland.
Culture and History
The Litografiska Museet shows how lithographs are printed on stone and presents the history of lithography. The museum has a car park in the immediate vicinity and an accessible toilet.
Konstbron is a large-scale public art scene beneath Regulatorbron in Flemingsberg and can be experienced by visitors around the clock. Fullersta GÃ¥rd displays works by the satirist EWK and the poet Karin Boye; both are associated with Huddinge.
Stensberg is a day-labourer crofter’s farm. The crofter who lived there paid rent by working three days a week on the Stensättra estate. At Stensberg and the granary near Sundby, there is an agricultural museum, a small laundry and a shop. Smedjan vid Björksättra is a fully equipped and operational blacksmith’s forge that has been restored to its original condition.
Hagalunds Tvätterimuseum is considered Sweden’s first and only laundry museum. It can be reached by metro or bus to Masmo, followed by a walk of around ten minutes.
Other Routes to Museums
At Balingsta Kvarn, there are tables and a bench with views of Lake Orlången and Sundby. The mill can be reached on foot in around ten minutes from the car park at Balingsta Gård.
Nyboda hembygds- och skolmuseum is about a five-minute walk from Huddinge railway station. Group visits can be booked there, including during periods when the museum is closed.
Winter and Active Days
Flottsbro has five downhill runs and three lifts for alpine skiing. At Sundby Gård on Lake Orlången, there are two prepared ice-skating tracks, approximately 10 kilometres and 3 kilometres long, respectively. On Lake Drevviken, there is a prepared circular ice-skating track with a total length of approximately 20 kilometres.
The Ã…gesta outdoor recreation area offers hiking trails, cross-country routes and illuminated trails. Ã…gesta Golfklubb offers golf rounds and a driving range. Ã…gesta GÃ¥rd och Ridskola offers pony rides, trial rides and group lessons for beginners through advanced riders. In winter, cross-country skiing is possible in the Ã…gesta outdoor recreation area on trails that are partly covered with artificial snow.
