Björklinge: Nature at Lake Långsjön and Historical Traces

Björklinge offers specific points of interest for travelers who want to combine nature experiences, physical activity and cultural-historical impressions. The Björklinge outdoor recreation area is located at Lake Långsjön, 20 kilometers north of Uppsala. Depending on the season, mountain biking, disc golf, swimming, cross-country skiing, ice skating and other activities take center stage. When choosing your accommodation, it is therefore particularly important to consider whether you want to plan your stay around outdoor sports activities, a swimming area or historical sights.

Outdoor Recreation Area at Lake Långsjön

The outdoor recreation area has a mountain bike trail with two sections. Both start and finish at the large gravel parking area between the beach and the gravel pit. This clear trail structure can be helpful when planning your day, without requiring you to assume a particular length or level of difficulty. Another option is the disc golf course at Sandviksbadet. It is suitable for all ages and skill levels; a full round takes about 40 minutes.

The swimming area in the outdoor recreation area is called Sandviksbadet, Långsjöbadet or Björklingebadet. Björklingebadet, also known as Sandviksbadet, has changing rooms with showers and toilets.

Winter Options with Clear Conditions

Björklinge also offers a range of activities in winter. The Sjöhagsspåret cross-country ski trail in the outdoor recreation area is about 2.5 kilometers long. If the weather permits and the ice is safe enough, an ice-skating track approximately five kilometers long is created on Lake Långsjön. It starts at the shore by Sandviksbadet. This wording also makes clear that the track depends on weather and ice conditions.

The gravel pit area in Björklinge also has a toboggan run, a small ski lift and two downhill runs. These options add further winter activities to the outdoor recreation opportunities. When planning your trip, it is worth considering the desired season and the specific activity separately: the cross-country ski trail is described as a route approximately 2.5 kilometers long, while the ice-skating track is created only when conditions are suitable.

Church, Burial Culture and a Walking Experience

Björklinge Church is located on the southern slope of the ridge, where the Uppsala Plain transitions into woodland. Those interested in church and burial culture can also consider Sätuna Burial Chapel, which contains a total of 28 coffins. Agneta Horn had an impressive burial chapel built for herself and her husband in Björklinge Church. The so-called Kyrkstigen is kept open and accessible, adding a specific route to the cultural-historical experience.
