Exploring on Foot and by Bicycle

For walks, Hälsans stig in Kåge is an important point of reference. The trail is accessible year-round. However, you should note one clear seasonal restriction: the section marked with a dotted line is not accessible in winter. This means that the possible route differs depending on the season, without the entire trail being restricted to winter in principle.

KÃ¥ge also has a forest area with a lit trail. Footpaths and cycle paths connect various places, adding to the opportunities to experience the area beyond a single destination. Your day planning can therefore include both a designated trail and paths through the area and the forest.

Water, Protected Area and Bathing Area

There is a bathing area in the centre of Kåge. It is therefore one of the nearby points of access for spending time by the water. The Kågeälven protected area has a different significance: a complete year-round ban on catching salmon and trout applies there. Anyone interested in river landscapes or fishing should take this rule into account when choosing activities.

Coastal Experiences and Maritime History

Lillhällan has been adapted to be accessible. At the same time, Lillhällan has smooth rocks suitable for bathing that extend almost to the water. The site therefore combines a documented adaptation with a distinctive natural shoreline. Bergskär has a lighthouse that began operating in 1893. The year places the lighthouse in its historical context without saying anything about whether it is still in operation today.

Traces of the region’s history can also be found within the area itself. Kågströms Repslageri has been preserved in its original condition. Together with the lighthouse at Bergskär, it offers a range of cultural-historical impressions, from a preserved craft site to a historic beacon.

A Break with a View of the Water

Don Vito Kåge Hamncafé is a harbour café serving homemade food and coffee with a view of the water. This specific location complements the trails, bathing area and coastal experiences with an opportunity to spend time at the harbour.
