Rybno is a locality in the Sorkwity commune, in MrÄ…gowo County and the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland. Tourism, agrotourism and lakeside recreation are developing in Rybno and other settlements of the Sorkwity commune. The historic buildings in the locality contribute to a cohesive picture of traditional Masurian settlement.

Nature

Lake Piłakno is used for diving, including as part of organized diving courses. Fishing is also practiced there. A hiking trail runs through the forest along the eastern shore. Near Rybno, about 3 km away, an archaeological site lies on the western shore of Lake Piłakno, preserving the remains of a lake settlement from the Early Iron Age.

History and Culture

Rybno was already a parish in the 15th century. A granite baptismal font from the Teutonic Order period has been preserved from the church. A Protestant family cemetery from the early 19th century is listed as a monument. A stone agricultural building from the third quarter of the 19th century is also listed as a monument.

Rybno has Roman Catholic and Protestant churches as well as a palace. The Roman Catholic parish church of Saint Boniface, Bishop and Martyr, is located at 47 Kościelna Street. It dates from 1928 and is listed as a monument.

Getting Around

Rybno has a bus station. There are two stops in the locality on route W600, including Rybno 45 (nż).
