Maszewo combines medieval urban heritage with a clearly traceable historical development: the town originated as a market settlement, received town rights in 1278, and its fortifications were developed from the late 13th or early 14th century onward.

History

The fortification heritage includes stone and brick-built remains of the former town fortifications. They date from the transition between the 13th and 14th centuries.

Culture

In 1854, a tree-lined promenade for walks was created on the former town ramparts.

Geographical Location

Maszewo is a town in the southeastern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and lies on the southern edge of Goleniów County. The island of Wyspa Ostrów is located in the wider regional surroundings of Maszewo.

Maszewo also includes Maszewo-Kolonia.
