Mosebølle lies north of Præstø Fjord. Præstø Fjord and Faxe Bay are considered the nearest bodies of water to the town. This gives you clear orientation if water, coastal landscapes and nature experiences are to be the focus of your trip. Nearby Feddet Beach offers shallow bathing water, “Blue Flag” status and tranquil nature experiences along the coast of South Zealand.

The holiday character of Mosebølle is also clearly evident: Mosebølle Strandhuse is considered a summer-house area for holiday and leisure purposes. Landscape between Stream and Coast

The landscape around Mosebølle is characterised by streams, proximity to the fjord and paths through open terrain. The lower approximately 1.3 kilometres of Orup Stream run through Natura 2000 site no. 168, “The Sea and Coast between Præstø Fjord and Grønsund”. One area recorded there is mapped as the salt-meadow habitat type (1330). Mosebølle Stream lies north of Præstøvej. There are routes through the landscape around Mosebølle offering beautiful views.

This allows you to experience the area according to different interests: the protected salt meadow represents a distinctive landscape, while the paths and streams reveal a quieter, more dynamic side of the surroundings. Mosebølle also offers walks in the surrounding area as an option for days when you would like to experience the landscape without a cycling stage.

Cycling Route and Hiking Trail

Cyclists can follow Panoramarute 425, a signposted route measuring 36.3 kilometres. Panoramarute 425 runs via Feddet and continues to Faxe Limestone Quarry. This gives you a specific reference point for planning based on the signposted route, without having to commit to a single type of landscape.

The Sjællandsleden hiking trail also provides its own way to access the region. One section runs from Leestrup Forest at Præstø Fjord via Feddet to Strandegård Deer Park. This allows you to distinguish between a signposted cycling route, a section of the hiking trail and walks in the surrounding area.

Orientation by the Fjord

There are eight easily recognisable Fjord Posts at Præstø Fjord, providing information about nature and culture. They connect the waterside landscape with regional themes and offer another way to experience the fjord not only as a body of water, but also through its natural and cultural associations. Strandholm (Mosebølle) is a stop on bus route 287 and therefore also forms part of the local orientation.

Historic Traces near Mosebølle

Mosebølle has been documented since 1403 under the historical form “Mwsæbølæ”. Nearby Roholte Church provides another historical highlight: it was built in 1441 by King Christopher of Bavaria. The church features banded masonry and a distinctive triangular choir. Its tower and sacristy date from around 1500. This creates a connection between landscape experiences, activity and a clear cultural and historical destination in the surrounding area.
