Ebbeløkke: Beach, Coastal Trails and the Kattegat

Ebbeløkke Beach is considered a very child-friendly beach. The water remains shallow far from the shore. At low tide, pools of water often form where children can play. Those travelling with children will find an ideal setting here for relaxing days by the water: The shallow shore and the changing pools of water shape the beach experience and make the coast immediately accessible.

Beaches and coastal landscape around Ebbeløkke

The surrounding coastline also includes Tengslemark Beach in the vicinity of Ebbeløkke and Gudmindrup Beach near Ebbeløkke. Both beach locations offer additional perspectives on the coast, while Ebbeløkke Beach has its own distinct character thanks to the water remaining shallow far from the shore and the pools that form at low tide.

Ebbeløkke Reef represents a different type of landscape. The rocky reef lies on the northern side of Sjællands Odde facing the Kattegat and is located at water depths of 6 to 13 metres. For visitors who want to explore the maritime structure of the coast in addition to the beach, the reef is one of the defining features around Ebbeløkke. Its connection to the Kattegat shapes the geographical character of the area.

Fishing at Ebbeløkke Point

At Ebbeløkke Point, a large belt of bladderwrack extends towards deeper water. From there, sea trout can be caught successfully up to two kilometres farther east, particularly in June, July and August. This seasonal opportunity adds a specific maritime focus to the beach and landscape experiences. To reach the fishing spot at Ebbeløkke, drive along Oddenvejen towards Sjællands Odde. After Lumsås, turn right onto Gl. Ebbeløkkevej and use the car park shortly afterwards.

Ebbeløkke Stræde and the View over the Kattegat

Ebbeløkke Stræde was protected as a cultural-historical landscape element in 1934. A walk of around 2 km through the old village passes Ebbeløkke Stræde and the surrounding landscape. This means the route connects the village area with a landscape experience that can be explored in a short time. From Ebbeløkke Stræde, there is a view over the Kattegat and Sejerø Bay.

Hiking Routes of Different Lengths

For longer active days, there is the circular hike “Ebbeløkke – fra kyst til kyst”. It is 12.5 km long and is not signposted. Its length and the lack of signposts are important features of this route when planning your day. By contrast, the approximately 2 km walk through the old village passes Ebbeløkke Stræde and the surrounding landscape. In Ebbeløkke, therefore, a shorter village walk and a considerably longer circular hike are available as different ways of exploring the landscape.
