Forest and Sandy Beach on Sejerø Bay

Høve Skov is located at Høve Strand on Sejerø Bay. Høve Skov Strand is a sandy beach on Sejerø Bay near Høve Skov. Here, the forest and coast form two distinct landscapes. Beech and oak trees grow in Høve Skov, with the oldest specimens dating from the mid-19th century. The oldest beech trees date from 1850, and there are oaks of the same age.

The 2.3-kilometre Hjertestien loop trail starts and ends at the large car park in the middle of Høve Skov. Cycling is permitted on all paths and roads in Høve Skov. The climb via Høve Stræde is 1,610 metres long and has an elevation gain of 75 metres. Anyone including the climb via Høve Stræde in their loop should plan for the 75-metre elevation difference in addition to the route length. The loop trail and the climb can be treated as different types of route when planning the day.

Natural Area and Water

West of Høve Skov lies Lærkereden, a 6.5-hectare protected coastal natural area owned by the Danish Nature Agency. The waters off Høve Skov offer fishing for flatfish and garfish. Round Barrow, Pavilion and Esterhøj

Høve Skov contains a single round barrow dating from the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. The pavilion in Høve Skov was built in 1905 by a local landowner as a dance hall and restaurant for the people of the surrounding area. In the area around Høve Strand near Høve, Esterhøj is the most prominent of three burial mounds and lies 89 metres above sea level. Troldestenen was a glacial erratic boulder weighing more than 20 tonnes in the area around Høve Strand; it formerly lay on the beach at Høve Skov.

Travel by Bus

For travel by bus, the Ahornvej stop is a specific reference point: Bus 565 from Vig towards Asnæs stops there; from there, it is approximately 400 metres to Høve Skov. The approximately 400 metres between the Ahornvej stop and Høve Skov form a separate part of the journey.
