Frølunde Fed is a marine foreland that formed when former barrier spits advanced further from the north and west, closing off a former bay. Frølunde Fed Beach consists of a mixture of sand and stones and often has washed-up seaweed. Along the shore, sandy areas and stony sections therefore alternate. When walking, the nature of the beach is consequently part of planning the route. Those walking along the shore adjust their pace to the particular beach section; sand and stones thus form different parts of the route.

At Frølunde Fed Beach, you can find around 70 different species of flowers, including pasque flower, bloody cranesbill, bellflower, harebell, yellow everlasting flower, lesser burnet, maiden pink and stonecrop. The bathing water quality at Frølunde Fed Beach is classified as excellent. Those interested in botany can look out for these flower species along the coast. The plants are found in the same beach area as the sand, stones and seaweed.

Hiking, Kayaking and Finding Your Way Along the Shore

At Frølunde Fed, the Strandstien connects several nearby natural areas and enables long walks along the coast. A long coastal hike requires correspondingly more space in the day’s schedule than a short beach walk. Those planning to use the Strandstien should take into account not only the coastal trail but also the connected natural areas. During a long hike, breaks can be planned at the changing beach sections.

Frølunde Fed also offers good conditions for kayakers. When kayaking, the activity moves onto the water, while the Strandstien provides access to the coast on foot. This means that the day can be organised around the long route along the shore or the activity on the water as different spaces for movement. The choice between the two forms of activity therefore depends on the desired surface: a firm path on land or water when kayaking.

Access and Shelter by the Shore

A marked section of Frølunde Fed Beach has been provisionally designated as a dog beach and is accessible via the car park at Broholmvej 87. The provisional designation limits the dog beach to the marked section. The shelter at Frølunde Fed is located in the open area next to the car park on Broholmvej in 4220 Korsør.

Further Coastal Areas and Cultural Connections

The Tude Ådal project takes into account the recreational interests of tourists who visit the beaches at Frølunde and Næsby.
