Klintholm Havn: Beaches, Harbour and Water Sports on Møn
Beaches and Harbour Location on Møn
Klintholm Havn is situated between two of Møn’s best bathing beaches, combining a harbour setting with days on the beach against a distinctive coastal backdrop. The beach on the western side of Klintholm Havn is particularly suitable for families with children: there, you have to walk a long way into the water before it becomes deep. For planning your trip, the main question is therefore whether swimming, maritime impressions or active days should shape your stay.
Fishing and Water Sports
Klintholm Havn is an active fishing harbour that receives large landings of herring and cod during certain periods. The harbour can be entered around the clock. Salmon fishing is possible from Klintholm Havn all year round, and boat tours depart along the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint. At Møn Surf, visitors can learn kitesurfing, surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Møn Surf Café rents out SUP boards and surfboards. Visitors can also enjoy a cold drink in a café overlooking the harbour.
By Kayak, Bicycle and on Foot
The kayaking route from Klintholm Havn to Møns Klint is approximately 18–22 km long and requires paddling experience. As a longer stretch on the water, it should be treated as a separate section when planning the day. Kayaks can be launched at the bridge outside the smokehouse in Klintholm Havn or at the two beaches on either side of the harbour. There are also several options on land: from Klintholm Havn, you can reach both Møns Klint and Høvblege on foot or by bicycle. The Kridtstien trail between Camp Møns Klint and the GeoCenter can be used on foot or by bicycle.
