Grömitz

With around 750,000 overnight stays (2002) and a population of 7,500, the Baltic Sea spa resort of Grömitz is considered the most important Baltic Sea holiday destination in Schleswig-Holstein. No fewer than 2,500 free parking spaces ensure ample parking, even for day visitors.
While adults mostly stroll along the main street and make use of the golf course in the town centre, children flock to the minigolf course, pony rides, go-karts, the Silly Billy indoor playground, the Rasender Benno beach train and the climbing ship—or spend time at the holiday kindergarten while their parents are away. The seawater wave pool, the “Grömitzer Welle,” with its “Wellarium” wellness centre, is popular with young and old alike, as is the Noah’s Ark Zoo in particular. Among its 300 animals are three “ligers,” exceptionally rare hybrids of lions and tigers.
With 780 berths, the yacht harbour is an ideal starting point for boat trips and sailing excursions (with motorboat and sailboat rentals also available) in one of the Baltic Sea’s most interesting sailing areas. At 398 metres long, the Grömitz pier is the longest in Schleswig-Holstein.
