Hotels on Poland’s Baltic Coast

Between the German-Polish island of Usedom and the Bay of Gdańsk lies one of the most attractive holiday regions on the Baltic Sea. Under Prussian rule, the seaside resort of Świnoujście (Swinemünde) on the islands of Usedom and Wolin became one of Germany’s oldest seaside resorts; today, it is Poland’s most popular Baltic resort. Not far behind in popularity is Międzyzdroje (Misdroy) on the neighboring island of Wolin. Further east, among the chain of smaller towns, the cities of Kołobrzeg (Kolberg), Koszalin (Köslin) and Darłowo (Rügenwalde) stand out.

The barrier coast is fringed by numerous small lakes, originally cut off from the Baltic Sea, which add to the landscape’s distinctive appeal. In recent years, the entire region has enjoyed a continuing boom as a holiday destination on the Baltic Sea. Existing holiday homes have been modernized, and numerous new hotels and apartment buildings have been constructed. They all cater to the high expectations of a new generation of tourists and meet European standards. The seaside resorts on Poland’s Baltic coast are becoming increasingly popular, particularly with German tourists.
