In Asarum, local history, church architecture and the landscape offer different interests for visitors. The Asarums Bygdemuseum at Stenbackagården provides insights into the history of the local area; an old hillfort stands on Korpaberget. There are also Asarums kyrka and Badhusparken; the village also has mini golf and a summer trotting track, while the nearby area around Långasjön and Nytorpet, north of Asarum, offers additional recreational activities. Visitors can choose the village for its historical traces, a park setting, or indoor and outdoor activities.

Local history and church architecture

The Asarums Bygdemuseum offers an insight into the history of the local area. Asarums kyrka complements this perspective with an architectural history spanning several centuries: its origins date to the late 12th or early 13th century, and it took on its present cruciform shape in 1799. These are two distinct points in time—the church’s early origins and the later form of its architecture. The museum looks at the history of the area, while the church offers a way to trace the development of a single building.

Badhusparken: Blossoms and art

Centrally located Badhusparken offers a different focus. Magnolia and Japanese cherry trees bloom there in spring; the flowering of both types of tree makes the season a specific consideration when planning a trip. The park also features the sculpture Lur-ring by Ulf Sjöberg. It was inspired by a Bronze Age lur (a type of horn) found in Froarp. Badhusparken thus brings together seasonal plant life and a work of art connected to an archaeological find. Those interested in cultural history will find a different perspective here than at the museum or church.

Hillfort and route to Korpaberget

An old hillfort stands on Korpaberget in Asarum. The site is elevated and considered scenic; the ascent is on foot and uphill. To reach Korpaberget, take Syrsevägen in Asarum. After 100 metres, a hillfort sign points left into the forest. When planning your day, the uphill walk is therefore a point to consider as well as the hillfort itself. This makes the excursion different from a visit to centrally located Badhusparken, whose spring blossoms offer a seasonal focus.

Recreational activities in Asarum

Asarum has a mini golf club with indoor and outdoor courses. This gives you a choice of different places to play: indoors or outside. A summer trotting track adds to the local recreational activities. Spectators stand on the infield there. If you would like to plan your stay around a trotting race, check the event dates in advance. Mini golf and the trotting track offer two different ways to spend your time; for the trotting track, its summer season is explicitly part of the offering.
