Discover Frørup: Village History, Hiking Trails and Regisse Kilde

Frørup between village history and paths into the countryside

The name Frøthorp has been documented in writing for Frørup since 1231. Despite numerous relocations that significantly changed the appearance of the village, Frørup remains clustered around the centrally located church to this day. Frørup Church dates from 1190 and thus provides a fixed point of reference for anyone wishing to get to know the area through its history.

Church, spring and illustrated stories

Regisse Kilde plays a special role in local tradition. Regisse Kilde is a holy spring near Frørup; on Saint John's Eve, it is believed to have healing powers, and people have been making pilgrimages to it for centuries. To reach Regisse Kilde, use the car park in front of Regissevej 2A and walk the final approximately 600 m.

At the old forge in Frørup, there are two gable paintings that tell of the village's cultural heritage. The first of the two paintings depicts the story of Regisse Kilde. Stendysse ved Frørup is also one of the area's distinctive cultural traces: it is located in the countryside between Frørup and Svindinge on Regissevej between house numbers 7 and 9.

Hiking trails with different character

The yellow hiking route in Frørup is approximately 5 km long and marked in yellow. It follows cycle paths along Frørupvej, Holebækvej, a field path via Åvej and the cycle path by Frørup School.

The SPOR Kongshøj Ådal hiking route runs between Frørup and Tårup along the Kongshøj Å and passes through a glacial tunnel valley. A babbling stream, grazing cows and the beautiful view of the surrounding area from the heights around the valley define the landscape.

Bike station and winegrowing

Frørup has a free bike station for cyclists. The mini workshop is used for inflating tyres, changing inner tubes and carrying out minor bicycle repairs. Tables and benches are located nearby, along with access to a toilet and drinking water. The local offering is complemented by Frørup Vingård, an organically managed winery. White wine, rosé and sparkling wine made using the French method are produced there; the wines are sold in the farm's own shop.
