Ullerslev between Bondemosen, Church Art and Cycling Routes
Bondemosen lies in the heart of Ullerslev and is designated as a quiet area. The green space is to be preserved by ensuring that no new noise-generating technical facilities or noise-affected areas are planned nearby. The open meadow landscape of Bondemosen is therefore part of Ullerslevâs natural character within the town.
Bondemosen and the walking trail
In summer, livestock graze on Bondemosen. This preserves the meadow character with its distinctive plants and keeps the area open. A walking trail of just under 3 kilometres runs around Bondemosen. The walking trail is therefore considerably shorter than the approximately 26-kilometre cycling tour south of Ullerslev and provides a separate setting for a walk around Bondemosen.
Ullerslev Church and Artistic Works
Ullerslev Church combines architectural history and sacred art. Its chancel and nave date from around 1200 and were built in the Romanesque style. The church is richly decorated with frescoes, including a striking Crucifixion. A written signature from 1485 bears the names of the painters Christian Petersen and Peter Lauritsen. The year 1485 therefore refers to a later period than the construction of the chancel and nave.
At Vibeskolen, a gable painting measuring just over 30 square metres depicts Ullerslev as a map. The motif thus focuses on Ullerslev itself rather than only on individual buildings. The skatepark at Vibeskolen, at 360 square metres, is larger than the gable painting there, which measures just over 30 square metres.
Cycling Routes with Different Foci
Ullerslev has several local cycling routes that can be used as detours from the main route. The âBølgende markerâ route starts at Ullerslev Church and follows small roads with very little traffic. The âBondemose og âpyramideââ route also starts at Ullerslev Church. South of Ullerslev, this idyllic tour of approximately 26 kilometres passes through marshland, by mills and churches, and to the âPyramidâ Degnes Høj, Denmarkâs only âPyramidâ. For both routes described, the start at Ullerslev Church establishes a connection with the Romanesque church building and its frescoes.
Infrastructure and Activity Areas
Ullerslev has good infrastructure and collective bus services providing access to larger towns and cities. At the Ullerslev Kultur- og IdrĂŚtscenter, the activity area can be used by everyone unless it is being used for UGMC group training. The skatepark in Ullerslev near Vibeskolen covers 360 square metres. The collective bus services provide access to larger towns and cities, whereas the activity area and the skatepark are located within Ullerslev.
