Klampenborg: Beach, Deer Park and Culture

Klampenborg combines the coast, nature, family experiences and culture in a special way. Bellevue is a 700-metre-long sandy beach in Klampenborg. Bellevue Strandpark has public toilets and a kiosk; during the bathing season, a lifeguard is also on duty there. At Bellevue Strandbad, the beach area and architectural ensemble meet.

Beach and architecture

Bellevue Strandbad and its buildings were designed by the architect Arne Jacobsen. The Bellevue Teatret on Strandvejen in Klampenborg was also designed by Arne Jacobsen. The theatre was built in 1936, stages plays and hosts concerts and salons. The history of the theatre is presented on a guided tour. In this way, the architectural trail extends from the bathing area to Strandvejen, where the theatre is located as a cultural venue. Dyrehave and historic landscape

Jægersborg Dyrehave is known for its ancient oak trees. Approximately 2,000 red deer, fallow deer and sika deer live in the area. This approximate total refers to the population of the three named deer species in the area, not to each species individually. At the same time, Jægersborg Dyrehave is part of the former royal hunting grounds within the par force hunting landscape in North Zealand. The old oak trees give the landscape a distinctive character, while the deer species shape its wildlife population.

It is also possible to plan your route on foot in concrete terms. The Jægersborg Hegn til Dyrehaven route passes Klampenborg Station. At Peter Liepsvej, in front of Klampenborgporten, you can hire a horse-drawn carriage driven by a coachman. The carriage offers a different perspective on the same landscape than the path along the route.

Bakken and special experiences

Bakken in Dyrehaven is the world's oldest amusement park and offers 36 rides. Its location in Dyrehaven connects the rides with the historic landscape.

Another special attraction is Klampenborg Galopbane. It opened on 1 June 1910 and has held horse races ever since without interruption. Today, it is Denmark's only racecourse exclusively hosting flat races. The Bucherer Derby at Klampenborg Galopbane is run over 2,400 metres. The Taittinger Skandinavisk Ladies Cup is contested by female amateur jockeys; the winning jockey receives her body weight in Taittinger Rosé Champagne. Damernes Dag also includes a competition for the best-dressed outfit with a hat.

The racecourse is within walking distance of Klampenborg Station and Ordrup Station. A bus stop is located directly in front of the main entrance, and bus route 388 stops there. For a broader comparison of the area, Hellerup Hellerup, Charlottenlund Charlottenlund and Gentofte Gentofte are also worth considering.
