Landscape Between Moorland and Forest

Moorland, lakes and forest shape the character of the landscape around Listrup. Listrup Lyng (Borremosen) is a larger moorland area on the Tingsted Ã… with several small lakes created by peat extraction. A large part of the area near Listrup Lyng consists of wooded peat bog and beech forest. During the summer months, white water lilies can be seen in the lakes of Borremosen.

For its small size, Listrup Lyng has a good and comparatively large population of the rare large white-faced darter. In Hannenov and Ovstrupskovene, you can observe fallow deer all year round; however, they are very shy. Those who want to experience nature not merely as a backdrop but in its concrete habitats will find moorland, forest and open water closely interconnected here.

Marked Trails and Cycle Routes

A marked hiking trail leads around Borremosen. The 4.5 km-long Hjertesti runs through Ovstrup Skov. The 3.4 km-long red route of the Sporet Præsteskoven-Skjørringe-Virket Sø circular trail passes through Listrup Lyng. The red route through Listrup Lyng continues along a boardwalk to Skjørringe Lyng at Skjørringe Gods. A short detour on the way south offers views over the meadows and peat cuttings of Borremosen at the Sparekasseeg Oak. The different route lengths provide a concrete point of reference for your planning.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Munkevejen cycle route runs through Hannenov Skov and conveys the history of the introduction of Christianity in the countries around the Baltic Sea. The Motionsslangen, which is 42 km long in total, runs through Hannenov and Ovstrup Skov. The Falster Ã…s ridge system ends at Listrup, south of Hannenov Skov.

The car park in the northern part of Hannenov Skov is a good starting point for tours in the northern part of the forest with Listrup Lyng. There is a picnic area in Listrup Lyng. Fishing is permitted in the lake near Listrup Lyng with a valid fishing licence. These three specific points complement the information about the trails and landscape with options for spending time in the area according to your individual plans.

Traces of History

Falsters Virke is a 1.3 km-long system of ramparts that runs through Hannenov Skov. It served as a refuge where the local population could seek protection in dangerous times. On Falster, the chamber of the Listrup Jættestue is up to approximately 15 m long. An urn burial site from the Early Iron Age, dating from approximately 500 BC to AD 375, was excavated at the Listrup Jættestue on Falster.

In the area opposite Virkethus at the northeastern corner of Hannenov Skov, remains of Frederik Vilhelm Berregaard’s experimental nursery can be seen; Berregaard began his experimental work in 1871.
