Village Church and Historic Ensemble

The village church dates from the 13th century and has been carefully renovated since the late 1980s. Today it is in good condition. Together with the rectory, it forms the listed ensemble in Lambrechtshagen. The church ensemble also includes a park with old fruit trees. A former stable building has been converted into a community centre.

Different historical layers can be seen in the building: the Gothic cross-ribbed vault of the nave points to a reconstruction around 1400. The gallery was built in 1750 and painted with biblical scenes in 1759. The church’s furnishings also include a silver-gilt chalice made by Rostock goldsmith Hans Klein in 1611. Visitors interested in architectural history, religious art or historic craftsmanship will find several points of interest here, each linked to specific parts of the ensemble and its furnishings.

Village History in the Local History Room

For a glimpse beyond the church, the local history room presents an exhibition on the history of Lambrechtshagen and its districts. It is located in the community centre. Historical photographs, accounts and documents that have been collected there are made available to visitors. The exhibition offers a distinct way to explore the village’s history: alongside objects and buildings, it also focuses on images and written records passed down over time.

A special exhibit is the flag of an association founded in 1902. The association supported bereaved families in the community; the flag is displayed behind protective glass. A harmonium is also among the historic objects from Lambrechtshagen: it was made by the American Estey Organ Company and completed on 6 December 1899. The first documented mention of Lambrechtshagen dates to 8 July 1233. It is the oldest place in the municipality.

The Path and Forest as Nature Attractions

The Schwarzer Weg, about 400 metres long, offers views across meadows and fields towards Doberan. As the access road is closed, traffic is limited. According to local tradition, the path was surfaced with black slag from a Rostock roofing felt factory in the late 19th century; this is said to be how it got its name.

Large areas in Vorweden-Mönkweden are protected. The Mönkweder Forest invites visitors to hike and cycle there.
