Malliß is located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, in the hilly landscape of the Wanzeberg and amid an extensive forested area.

Nature

The area around Malliß is designated as the Wanzeberg Nature Conservation Area. Its flora, fauna, and geological features are considered diverse – including for visitors.

History

The Friedrich Franz Mine introduced underground lignite mining in Malliß, which shaped the region until 1960. The restored entrance to the Marienstollen is a monument to mining history unique in Mecklenburg. The decorative elements recovered while uncovering this entrance are displayed at the Regional Museum in Kaliß.

The salt spring initially belonged to the Eldena Convent until the convent was dissolved in 1588.

Routes

The southern Industrial Culture Loop in Malliß leads to the entrances of the Conow I and Marien-Stollen adits, the Kreuzkanal, and the former Malliß railway station. The northern loop leads via the church in Conow and the saline fountain back to Malliß. The Malliß industrial culture routes can be reached by car via Ludwigsluster Straße 11 in Malliß.

Activities

Activities for visitors in Malliß include pedal boats, rowing or motorboats, and stand-up paddleboards. A campsite in Malliß is located on the Ziegeleikanal along the Elde-Müritz Waterway. The tourist area also offers boating and fishing on or along the Elde-Müritz Waterway.

The Am Wiesengrund campsite in Malliß has a petting zoo with goats, alpacas, ponies, and pot-bellied pigs.

Danis Saftladen in Malliß is an organically certified fruit-growing business with a farm shop, mobile cider press, contract cider pressing, and beekeeping. The farm shop offers juices and fruit spreads, including single-variety apple juices such as Boskoop and Goldparmäne, as well as its own honey and regional handicrafts.
