Tessenow between the Ruhner Hills and the Elde Lowlands

The front section of the former Tessenow estate park is to be preserved as a historic garden under the state’s Heritage Protection Act. The landscape’s older history is also tied to a specific location: the last burial mounds in the series are situated within the Tessenow municipal boundary. From the boundary of the Tessenow district, you can walk along the hedge to a burial mound 50 m away, overgrown with a beautifully branched oak tree. The distance makes this section easy to cover. On Federal Highway 321, a memorial plaque commemorates 6,000 victims among the prisoners of the death march from Sachsenhausen concentration camp in April 1945.

Another local speciality is Kreatoenchen in Tessenow. Exceptional ceramics for everyday use and decoration are offered there. The range therefore extends from natural and cultural traces to handcrafted works.
