Nature and Landscape

The municipality of Gehlsbach, including the Wahlstorf area, is considered a heathland landscape extending to the Brandenburg border. The landscape includes sand and dry grasslands, as well as extensive Calluna heath areas in the Marienfließ Nature Reserve. The Marienfließ Nature Reserve and the Quaßliner Moor are considered destinations for nature excursions. Gehlsbach is also considered an area where hiking and horseback riding through the heathland are possible.

The Otto Spring feeds the Gehlsbach, which is considered a protected trout waterway with a natural course. Ahrendsberg is located in the immediate vicinity of Wahlstorf; Fuchsberg and Klüschenberg are in the surrounding area of Wahlstorf.

Culture

Wahlstorf is home to the country inn “Zur Ottoquelle,” which has been run by the fourth generation of the same family since 1863. It offers a restaurant and can host celebrations for up to 100 people in its hall and adjoining park. Cultural events are also held there.

Burgwall, Meyenburg Castle, and the Collegiate Church are located in the vicinity of Wahlstorf. Ringwall and Elefantenhof Platschow are located in the wider regional area.
