Zülow: Hotels and Accommodation

Zülow is located directly on the edge of the Grambow Moor. The village is considered an old estate village and, despite its manor-house history and the agricultural collectivization of the post-war period, has preserved its rural character.

Nature

The Grambow Moor is considered the second-largest raised bog in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It lies southwest of Schwerin between Grambow, Wittenförden, Zülow and Stralendorf.

The circular trail and nature trail through the Grambow Moor can be accessed from the village of Grambow. A walk along the nature trail leads through the bog woodland; the trail also extends to Great Moor Lake and its floating mat areas.

The Ottergraben stream flows through Zülow from the Grambow Moor. Its water is clear but brownish in color due to the moor. Zülow is also considered a starting point for cycling tours into the Grambow Moor.

Village Character

The village character includes an old estate ensemble, a village square resembling a village green, and large village gardens. The street and building layout reflects its historical origins as an estate village.

The avenue of linden trees leading to Zülow is a protected natural monument. The manor house and park in Zülow are considered restored and are privately owned.

History

A permanent exhibition at Grambow Estate is dedicated to the flora and fauna of the Grambow Moor, the history of peat extraction, and the planned renaturalization.

Between Zülow and nearby Stralendorf are megalithic tombs. The village church in nearby Stralendorf is associated with a burial chapel belonging to the von Schack family, who were once the owners of Zülow Estate.
