Geographical Location

Sukow is located 14 kilometers southeast of Schwerin and 6 kilometers southwest of Crivitz. The northern part of Sukow is wooded.

Culture and Nature

The surrounding area of Sukow is home to the Schwerin-Zippendorf TV Tower and Schwerin Zoo. Also located there are “Schwerin, State Museum” and Schwerin Cathedral.

The surrounding area also includes Flakenwerder, Kaninchenwerder, Schwaneninsel, and Tannenwerder (Toteninsel).

History and Community

Archaeological remains of an early Slavic settlement were found near Sukow; the Sukow-Dziedzice group was named after these finds. Sukow was first recorded in a purchase document dated February 16, 1348, and was located on an important historical trade route.

Community life in Sukow includes Sukow Open Air, an open-air event held at the local sports field featuring live bands and a DJ. It is organized by the Sukower Carneval Club 1980 e.V.; at the same time, it is embedded in the town’s club life.
