Groß Schwiesow: Hotels and Accommodation

Groß Schwiesow is predominantly agricultural in character. The area around the village features a high proportion of pine and beech forests as well as gently rolling terrain; to the south, the landscape descends toward the Nebel lowlands and the Bützow-Güstrow Canal. Around Groß Schwiesow, the towpath along the Bützow-Güstrow Canal and the canal cycle path are described as scenic, car-free cycling routes.

Groß Schwiesow lies between Güstrow, Bützow and Schwaan, about 30 kilometres south of Rostock.

Bützow Castle and Güstrow Palace are located in the area surrounding Groß Schwiesow. Further afield in the region are the Groß Raden Open-Air Museum and Dornbusch. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Wildlife Park and Miniature City are also located in the surrounding area.

Groß Schwiesow was first recorded in a document dating from 1237. The former grain store, Alter Speicher, was converted into a community centre in 2001; various events and festivals are held there.
