Juelsminde: Harbour, Beach and Paths by the Water

Juelsminde combines maritime history with beach paths, a landscape for walking and playful experiences. If, for your stay, you are weighing up the coast, harbour views, culture and activities for different interests, the town offers several clearly defined themes: from Storstranden to the Kyststien trail, and from the museum to the treasure hunt.

Beach and Trails

A 2.5-kilometre walking trail begins at Juelsminde Marina, runs along Storstranden beach and leads to the tip of Bjørnsknude.

Storstranden has been awarded the international Blue Flag and is therefore a distinctive coastal landmark in Juelsminde.

The Kyststien Snaptun–Juelsminde trail is 22 kilometres long and runs between the two towns.

Along this walking route, deep forests, wide sandy beaches, idyllic villages and impressive manor parks alternate with one another.

The 2.5 kilometres by the water and the 22 kilometres between the towns represent two clearly different distances for planning a day out. The shorter route connects the harbour, beach and coast; the longer route passes through several types of landscape.

Harbour and History

The anchor of the frigate Jylland stands in Juelsminde harbour; it serves as a landmark of the town.

The Juelsminde Harbour Museum presents the history of the harbour, as well as its various livelihoods and activities over time.

The museum also includes a realistic ship simulator with a virtual ship environment.

A functionalist residence for officials is located in the harbour area.

The Lokomotivhuset, built in 1884, also stands in the harbour area.

Juelsminde Church contains an exact model of the frigate Jylland, which was hung in the church in 1914.

Juelsminde Church is open depending on staff availability. It may be open from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., but opening is not guaranteed when you arrive.

Experiences for Active Days and Discoveries

Juelsminde Nature Playground offers, among other things, a slide, multi-purpose playing fields, forest fitness equipment and a Tarzan course.

There are two padel courts at the nature playground, which can be booked.

The padel courts also complement the park's other facilities.

The Tiger Hunt in Juelsminde leads to 25 small tiger sculptures made of stone.

Each tiger in this hunt has a QR code that can be used to access its story.

The Juelsminde Rundt Treasure Hunt is a 4-kilometre treasure hunt with entertaining tasks and a specially made medal.
