The entire village of Huta Kalna is protected as a historic rural settlement. This means the protection is not limited to a single building. The protected ensemble includes the historic spatial layout, historic plot divisions and the network of roads and paths, as well as the arrangement of farmsteads. It also includes small historic features and historic greenery associated with the buildings and road network.

St. Joseph's Church and the rectory
The Neo-Gothic St. Joseph's Church was built in 1894 by members of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union. Its movable historic furnishings include a wooden choir dating from the 1940s, a baptismal font from the late 19th century, and a wooden figure of Christ on the cross, which may date from the 18th century. The cautious dating applies to this figure of Christ; the dates given for the choir and baptismal font are independent of one another.
The rectory is also part of the village's history: the present rectory of St. Joseph's Parish, formerly the pastor's house, was built in 1907. The church and rectory therefore represent different periods of construction in Huta Kalna. Together with the protected village layout, they form a cultural highlight for travellers interested in historic buildings and their place within a settlement.
The former cemetery
East of the village centre, on a gentle natural slope, lies the former Evangelical cemetery dating from 1894. A path runs through its centre from north to south towards the chapel. Its position east of the centre and the path's course provide a clear point of reference within the village. Its historic context also matters: this is a former Evangelical cemetery, not a general description of how the site is used today.
Bathing area and cycling and hiking route
Lake Szarmachy is located in the Sołectwo Huta Kalna and serves as a bathing area. If you want to make time by the water a focus of your trip, this is a clearly identified place to start. The lake, church and historic settlement each appeal to different interests; the description of the bathing area alone does not imply that other facilities are available at the lake.
For active days, the Szlak Arboretum is another option. This 26-kilometre, unmarked cycling and hiking route runs from Huta Kalna via Mały Bukowiec and Twardy Dół to the arboretum and dendrological garden in Wirty. The distance and lack of waymarking are important details when planning this route into your day. It extends beyond Huta Kalna, continuing through the two named places to the garden in Wirty.
