Belau: Hotels and Accommodations

Belau is connected to Lake Belau and Lake Schierensee. The area includes a hilly moraine landscape with considerable populations of game and birds, as well as small mixed forests and tree-lined avenues.

Water

There is a public bathing area on the eastern shore of Lake Belau. The bathing area at Lake Belau at Perdöler Mühle is located approximately 2 km north of Belau and has infrastructure and camping facilities.

Water sports are available on Lake Belau. Fishing is permitted with the appropriate fishing license. The campsite on the northwestern shore has its own access to the water and offers boat rentals; a campsite on Lake Belau is also open to riders.

Culture

The listed cultural monuments include the castle in Belau and the Perdoeler gatehouse with its associated stable and barn buildings. The Kattholz oak is considered to be a pedunculate oak approximately 450 years old.

Paths and Cycling Routes

Belau has an extensive network of paths for hiking. The Vierer Weg is a hiking route between Belau and Ruhwinkel. Also listed is the “Belauer See–Schierensee” hike.

The 39 km-long Land cycling tour includes Belau. The Holstein Switzerland long-distance cycle route runs along the planning area in Belau.

Culinary Delights

The café-bistro in the former cowshed offers homemade cakes, gateaux and coffee specialties. There is also a small menu featuring seasonal dishes.
