From Köhn, the shortest route to the Baltic Sea beach at Hohenfelde is 6 kilometers; a cycle path runs along the entire length.

Nature

The Plön district has almost 50 kilometers of Baltic Sea coastline and around 80 lakes. Lake Großer Plöner See and Lake Selenter See are the two largest lakes in Schleswig-Holstein. Large parts of the Plön district belong to the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, which covers 75,000 hectares.

The Mühlenau flows through the municipality of Köhn and is the only direct outlet from Lake Selenter See to the Baltic Sea. Many sections of its banks in Köhn are protected.

In Pülsen, there is a shallow, unguarded bathing area on Lake Selenter See with sunbathing lawns, a playground, and accessible toilets. The bay is a protected nature area. Sailors and surfers can reach Lake Selenter See via Pratjau/Fargau or Grabensee. However, sailing and stand-up paddling are not permitted at the Pülsen bathing area because it is surrounded by a protected area.

The region also offers canoe trips on the Schwentine water trail as well as outings on sailing and excursion boats.

Active pursuits

Köhn has country lanes and forest paths for walking and cycling. Bisterfeld Forest is a destination for walks; the Bisterfeld and Pülser Vieh forests near Köhn also invite visitors to take walks in a natural setting.

The Plön district has a signposted network of cycle paths extending for 850 kilometers. Salzau Castle can be reached by bicycle from Köhn.

Culture and History

The first documented mention of Köhn dates back to 1404. Pülsen is documented from 1362. Salzau Castle was the venue for annual music events, including JazzBaltica.
