Probsteierhagen: Hotels and Accommodations

Probsteierhagen combines traces of its historic village past with Baltic Sea landscapes: The town is considered an old crafts and farming village and was first documented in 1259.

Culture and History

St. Catherine’s Church stands in the village center; it was built in the 13th century and features stucco work in the altar area. Hagen Castle was built in 1649 by Heinrich Blome as a three-winged brick structure with stepped gables. Its Blome Room has an impressive stucco ceiling; the complex is also considered a restored cultural and event venue surrounded by a green park.

Landscape and Trails

The area around Probsteierhagen includes mixed forests, Lake Passade and the Kasseeteiche ponds. Local hiking trails, cycle paths and forest trails support hiking, cycling and other outdoor activities.

There are four signposted cycling routes in the Probstei region. Viewpoints, dikes, harbors and rural paths in the Probstei are suitable for hiking or cycling. Miles of paved and well-signposted cycling and hiking trails lead through fields and meadows as well as villages, past historic monuments, to beaches and along inland lakes.

Baltic Sea and Activities

The Probstei region offers rural experiences, beaches, cycling through natural areas, museums and activities on the Baltic Sea waves. Baltic Sea beaches and swimming areas are considered to be about 8 km from Probsteierhagen. Fishing trips on the nearby Baltic Sea are considered a visitor activity. For visitors staying in the area, boat trips departing from Kiel, Laboe or Schönberg are considered an option.
