Schwartbuck: Hotels and Accommodation

Schwartbuck is located between Lake Selent and the Baltic Sea. In the Mühlenau Valley, areas were withdrawn from agricultural use and placed under nature conservation.

Nature

The Schmoel coastal reserve covers 50 hectares. It combines a beach ridge, coastal lakes lined with brackish-water reeds, coastal grassland, and other characteristic Baltic Sea habitats. The Schmoel coastal lakes provide waders and waterfowl with undisturbed habitats for moulting, resting, breeding, and feeding.

History and Culture

Schwartbuck has more than 800 years of documented history: the village was first mentioned in 1216 as “SUARCE PUC”; it later developed into an estate and farming village. The view from the L 165 toward the Baltic Sea includes the impressive buildings of Gut Schmoel, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Salzau is located in the surrounding area of Schwartbuck. Pilsberg, Strezerberg, and Bökenberg are also nearby. In the wider regional area are the Naval Memorial in Laboe, Riemannstein, Kleiner Werder, and allotment gardens.
