Culture and history

The church was extended to the west with a tower in 1897. The broad chancel arch features Late Gothic paintings; they were discovered in 1926 and restored in 1927. A series of oak-carved Passion scenes dating from 1284 is displayed above the chancel arch.

The furnishings include a Gothic wooden altar crucifix from the 13th century and a granite baptismal font from the 12th century. A folding altarpiece rediscovered in 2009 was restored; its shrine box and painted wings probably date from the 16th or 17th century. The pulpit from 1713 contains reliefs depicting the birth, baptism, and resurrection of Christ. Twelve Baroque gallery paintings depicting the apostles are installed on the west gallery.
