Höör can be explored through two interests: hiking trails of varying lengths and the history of a place whose traces reach back to the Middle Ages. Höör and the surrounding area have routes, natural areas and marked trails; the church, museums and Kulturhuset Anders offer further points of interest for a trip. You can shape your stay around exercise, scenery and culture.

Hiking on routes of varying lengths

Brottets bana is an easy to moderately challenging hiking trail of about three kilometres between Höörs Mölla and Stanstorps stenbrott in Stenskogen. Information boards with maps and details about the area's history are placed at selected points; a map brochure is also available in a mailbox at Höörs Mölla. The history of sandstone quarrying in Stenskogen dates back to the 12th century: sandstone was extracted there for building blocks and millstones. Höörs Mölla is about 1.5 kilometres from Höör railway station.

The 16-kilometre Pilgrimsleden begins at Frihetens kapell by Stiftsgården Åkersberg in Höör. The Skåneleden trails SL2 and SL3 run parallel through the centre and pass the railway station. This means hikes can be started or ended in Höör. If you are looking for a shorter route, the 750-metre Backaslingan offers a different scale: this illuminated fitness and running trail is by Villa Backa. To the north, it connects to the walking and cycling path by Kvarnbäcks Bouleplätze, and to the south, to Hälsans stig and Skåneleden. There are two barbecue areas along the trail.

Nature experiences in the surrounding area

In the area around Höör, there is a loop around Vaxsjön in the Frostavallen recreation area. It is just under three kilometres long and has a paved surface that allows it to be used with wheelchairs and pushchairs; wheelchair users may need assistance in some places. Frostavallen is about five kilometres from Höör railway station. Also nearby, Orups strövområde offers five walking and hiking loops of varying lengths, mountain bike trails and hilly terrain. The paved Vaxsjön loop and the hilly terrain in Orup offer different starting points when choosing between a short circular route and several loops.

Allarps bjär is a wooded basalt hill with carpets of wood anemones, yellow anemones and ramsons that bloom in spring. Skåneleden runs through the nature reserve. Also in the area around Höör is Klintaskogen by Östra Ringsjön: much of the nature reserve consists of mature beech forest with tall, thick-trunked trees; a path runs along the former shoreline. On Västra Bosjöklosterhalvön, there is a marked hiking trail and a rest area with a fire pit by the lakeshore.

Church, culture and local history

Höör Church was built of stone from Höörs stenskog in the second half of the 12th century by Mårten Stenmästare. The apse, chancel and nave of the medieval church have been preserved. The original baptismal font is also still there. Its runic inscription reads “Martin mik giarde” and is thought to be attributed to Mårten Stenmästare.

In the centre of Höör, Kulturhuset Anders offers concerts, theatre, dance, art exhibitions and cinema. The building's art gallery, Höörs konsthall, hosts about ten exhibitions a year. Höörs skolmuseum offers another glimpse into local history: it is housed in a stone building from the 1830s that was Höör's first school. Berggrenska gården, a 19th-century longhouse in the centre of Höör, is closed until further notice. The present-day Gästgivaregård is said to have served as an inn since the early 18th century.

There are cultural attractions in the area around Höör as well: Bosjökloster offers exhibitions, animal enclosures and gardens overlooking Ringsjön, as well as 900 years of history. For information about attractions and trails, visit the tourist information desk in the civic centre at Höör Town Hall. There you can get advice, brochures about attractions and maps of cycling and hiking trails in the municipality. At Höörs Bad och Sportcentrum, the three sports halls can be booked through the municipality's website. Skates and helmets can be borrowed at the ice rink, while supplies last.
