Lomma: Beach, Harbour and Nature
Lomma offers a variety of reasons to stay on the Swedish coast: beach and harbour, trails through natural areas, birdwatching, fishing and traces of history. Those looking for accommodation can therefore explore the town according to their preferred focus – with specific destinations for days at the beach, walks, maritime impressions or culture.
Beach, Harbour and the Hamnhusen Swimming Area
Lomma Beach, the northern beach of Lomma, lies north of the harbour entrance. There are bathing opportunities near restaurants and service facilities; visitors can also play beach volleyball. A pier leads from Strandpromenaden/Stiltjeplatsen to Lomma’s northern beach. For this coastal location, Lomma railway station is one of the nearest public transport stops.
The Hamnhusen swimming area, also known as T-bryggan, is located near the centre of Lomma, public transport stops and the harbour district. At T-bryggan, there is an accessible bathing wheelchair on an accessibly designed ramp. The two swimming areas differ in terms of location: the northern beach lies north of the harbour entrance, while Hamnhusen is near the centre and the harbour district.
Lomma marina has 500 berths and is visited by thousands of sailors and tourists every year.
A Coastal Stage between Bjärred and Lomma
Stage 13 of the Skåneleden trail between Bjärred and Lomma is 6 km long. It runs along the coast to the centre of Lomma and passes the northern beach, Strandfuret and Lomma harbour. For active days, this route therefore provides a clearly described connection between the coastal section, natural surroundings and town centre, without presenting individual destinations as part of one combined facility.
Forest, Water and Birdwatching
Kyrkfuret is a forested area north of Lomma. It has many walking trails and a rich birdlife. Together with the Haboljungs fure nature reserve, Kyrkfuret forms an important green corridor between Lomma and the coast. In the southeastern part of Kyrkfuret, the Höje å-stråket walking trail crosses Kyrkbron, which spans the Höje å river.
Östra dammarna is suitable for birdwatching and provides a natural gateway to the town of Lomma. In Stora östra dammen, you can fish for species including rudd, pike and perch. The two details offer different nature experiences: one focuses on observing birds, while the other focuses on fishing.
Historical Traces in Lomma
The town’s history is also part of Lomma’s character. Lomma kyrka was built in 1872 and inaugurated on 6 July 1873. An earlier stone church in Lomma dated from before 1100. Those who wish to include historic sites during their stay on the coast will therefore find an precisely dated reference point in Lomma kyrka, as well as an earlier stone church from before 1100.
