Rörum between Church Village and Natural Landscapes

Rörum combines a clearly recognisable historic village character with protected landscapes and trails leading to the sea. If you would like to take both nature experiences and cultural history into account when choosing your destination, you will find several points of interest with different characteristics here. The buildings most commonly found in Rörum are half-timbered or brick buildings, most of which are rendered. The landscape around the village also has a distinctive feature: a large part of the hills consists of pastureland.

Rörum is regarded as a good example of a Scanian church village relocated outside its original site in the 19th century. The present church in Rörum was built in 1879. Inside, there is an altarpiece with words of institution in Swedish and Latin from 1593. Visible traces of different eras therefore stand side by side in the same village: the altarpiece from 1593 and the 19th-century church building.

Individual buildings also tell of changes in local history. Some houses were dismantled; south of Stenshuvud, on Rörum Beach, they were given a new lease of life and the name Knäbäckshusen. This connection adds a specific example to the view of Rörum of how historic houses were reused in another location.

Hiking Trails in the Nature Reserve

In the Stenshuvud Nature Reserve, you can distinguish between two clearly described trail connections. One trail connects the national park trail system with Skåneleden, section SL4, stage 5. Another trail follows the Rörums norra å to the sea. If, when planning your trip, you would like to choose between a marked connection and a trail with a clearly stated destination, this provides different points of orientation without equating the trails.

A hiking trail of approximately 1 kilometre is described in the Sträntemölla–Forsemölla Nature Reserve. Sträntemölla itself has origins dating back to the 14th century and features a well-preserved old farm and mill complex. The mill is no longer in operation. There is also a picnic area with a fire pit at the Forsemölla waterfall.

Rörum Knäbäckshusen is the nearest bus stop for access to the Stenshuvud Nature Reserve; it is located approximately 3 kilometres away. This provides a specific point of reference for the location of the nature reserve without implying a particular connection or travel time.

Kulla is an outdoor dance pavilion near Rörum. Kulla Nöjesplats dates back to the mid-19th century. Together with the church, historic houses and nature reserves, this creates a destination that can be explored through local history, landscapes and different ways of spending time outdoors.
