Sjöbo combines marked mountain bike trails with a market tradition dating back to 1864 and a cinema and theatre history that has continued since 1939. This means you can plan a trip that combines outdoor activities with cultural venues offering their own programmes. The town’s character is also shaped by its history: Sjöbo has retained some of the character of a turn-of-the-century central town.

Mountain Biking and Walking Trails
Orans friluftsområde is east of Sjöbo, one kilometre from the bus station. It has six exercise trails for walking or running through varied terrain; one is lit. The marked mountain bike trails cover a total of 25 kilometres: one green, three blue and one red trail. The individual trails differ in length and difficulty.
Another measured route is Hälsogången, marked in blue and 1,700 metres long. X-rundan offers something different: it is a quiz walk with questions along the route. The nature boardwalk near Södra Färs bygdegård in Solvalla is 400 metres long. So, alongside the colour-coded mountain bike trails, you will find named routes and a quiz walk, each defined by its own format and length.
Cinema, Ceramics and Markets
Flora has operated continuously as a cinema and theatre since it opened on 8 November 1939. Current films are shown there. Tickets are available online through Tickster or at the cinema box office, which opens 30 minutes before each screening. Check the programme before your visit.
Sjöbo Konsthall hosts exhibitions and has an adjoining creative space that is open to everyone. Another cultural stop is Elfstrands krukmakeri: the pottery setting is a listed building and was the first pottery setting in Skåne to receive this status. In summer, exhibitions by contemporary ceramic artists are held in the former pottery studio. As this is a seasonal programme, check the exhibition dates before your trip.
The markets offer different highlights for planning your trip. The Sjöbo Market has been held since 1864. The Mikaeli Market continues to be a harvest market featuring food, crafts and handicrafts. Sjöbo Summer Market is scheduled to take place at the market square in the centre; it is held in July on the Thursday and Friday of calendar week 29. Check the event dates before your trip.
Activity Park and Outdoor Pool
Sjöbo aktivitetspark is located in Malenas Park in the town of Sjöbo. Its parkour area consists of concrete and steel elements on two levels and has impact-absorbing surfacing. The skate area covers about 1,100 square metres and includes a larger street/flow area and a bowl. At the Möllers mosse playground, there is a climbing net among the oak trees.
Orebadet at Oran has a 50-metre outdoor pool with a lane for swim training, a teaching pool and a paddling pool for small children. The different pools serve different purposes; which ones are of interest during your stay depends on whether you are planning swim training, lessons or a pool for small children.
Hiking in the Surrounding Area
Nearby, the Fyledalen Nature Reserve offers several walking trails of different lengths and types. Walking, cycling and horse riding are permitted on the paths and trails. This gives you different ways to explore the routes on foot, by bike or on horseback.
The Lövestads åsar Nature Reserve is also nearby. There, an approximately 1.5-kilometre hike along the Skåneleden trail follows a wooded ridge and then a lower-lying road. The approximate route length and the change between the ridge and the lower-lying road give this hike a different character from the trails of varying lengths and types in Fyledalen.
