Tyringe – Forest Trails and Local History
Accommodation in Tyringe
Around Tyringe, beech forests, exercise trails, and a rich local history shape the character of the town. There are several ways to plan your trip: trails in Sanatorieskogen, a circular walking trail in nearby Västra Torup, and themes relating to art and history.

Forests and Trails Around Tyringe
Since 1987, three exercise trails in Sanatorieskogen have been open for walks or runs. They are 5, 7, and 10 kilometers long. Trail conditions can change, so check them before setting out. The forest also has a historical role: Since Tyringe Kur- och Badanstalt was built in 1896, Sanatorieskogen has served as a cherished retreat for sanatorium guests and residents of Tyringe.
Arena Tyrs Hov is located in a natural setting with several exercise trails. They pass through the beech forest of Sanatorieskogen and through Bödkaredalen. In the area near Tyringe, Stenberget features beech forest, pronounced elevation changes, and views over Finjasjön. The landscape here offers a different experience from the measured trail lengths in Sanatorieskogen.
Radiumkällan lies southeast of Tyringe in a deciduous woodland dominated by mature beech and oak trees. Its name comes from the time when radium was considered beneficial to health. Just outside Tyringe, in Västra Torup, the 1.6-kilometer Torupasjön circular walking trail is partly accessible. At 1.6 kilometers, it is shorter than each of the three trails in Sanatorieskogen.
Sport and Exercise
Sportcentrum Tyrs Hov has an ice rink with ample spectator seating and a sports hall. Other facilities include bowling, wrestling, indoor football, and indoor athletics. The center therefore offers a variety of indoor sports and activities.
Local History, Art, and Culture
With the construction of the railway line between Hässleholm and Helsingborg in 1875, Tyringe developed into a railway town. Tyringe Museum explores this historical starting point, presenting the town’s history from the building of the railway to the present day. Tyringe kyrka has featured stained-glass windows by artist Hugo Gehlin since 1950.
Tyringe Museum is available online around the clock on a phone, computer, or tablet. As the website’s offerings may change, check its current online content before using it.
The art gallery at Tyringe Library presents a new exhibition each month in collaboration with Tyringe konstförening. Artists and dates vary. Once a year, the gallery also displays works by members of Tyringe Fotoklubb; exhibition dates may change here too. If you are planning a visit, check the current program.
A report dated March 3, 2026, described a meeting with the exhibiting artists on the first Monday of each month at Tyringe konsthall. A presentation lasting about 20 minutes was followed by coffee and cake, an opportunity to view the art, and conversations with the artists. Check the dates before travelling.
Perssons Café is also associated with Tyringe Museum: Writers Artur Lundkvist and Gordon Lindh once sat there. Tyringe lies west of Hässleholm and close to the city.
