Bjert: Cycling Route, Village History and Culture
The marked Vandvejen cycling route through the Stenderup Woods and along the coast of the Little Belt
The marked 33.7-kilometre Vandvejen cycling route runs through the Stenderup Woods on the Stenderup Peninsula near Sønder Bjert and along the coast of the Little Belt. It follows asphalt and forest paths. At this length, the route is suitable for planning a longer day of cycling. Those including it in their plans can take the route length, the two types of path and the course through the forest and along the coast into account. The length of the route is a fixed factor; for personal daily planning, it is mainly your own pace and planned breaks that remain flexible.
A good cycle path that can be used in both directions connects Sønder Bjert and Sønder Stenderup. The Binderup Mølleå is visible in the Æbleplantagen and along the sports grounds; in the northern section, it runs through a culvert.
Along Gamle Bjert, the village character of Sønder Bjert has largely been preserved. In addition to newer buildings, the church, the inn, several large farms and a number of original houses have been retained. In Gamle Bjert, the farms and houses beside the church and inn therefore also attract attention. The townscape of Gamle Bjert thus reflects not just a single older building, but an juxtaposition of different periods of construction.
