Hvidbjerg lies on the southern side of Vejle Fjord and is part of Vejle Ådal. Hvidbjerg Klit is protected as a rare landscape feature at Vejle Fjord. From the summit of Hvidbjerg Klit, there is a view over the wooded Trelde Næs and the outer part of Vejle Fjord. Routes, Views and Getting There

National cycle route No. 5, Østkystruten, runs through the Hvidbjerg area. It provides a clear point of reference for trip planning. The viewpoint at Hvidbjerg Klit is accessible only on foot. There is parking on Hvidbjergvej; from there, the cliff can be reached within 500 m. For travel by bus, route 204 stops in Hvidbjerg on the route between Vejle and Fredericia.

Coast with History

In addition to its beach and landscape, Hvidbjerg also has a documented maritime and cultural past. Traces of Stone Age settlements can be found at the foot of Knuden and in the offshore waters. In 1913, a consortium of citizens from Fredericia wanted to develop Hvidbjerg into a tourist area with holiday-home plots and a bathing beach. From 1914, the Vejle Dampbaade operated between Vejle and Hvidbjerg and back, including the fjord boat “Hvidbjerg”.

Initially, Hvidbjerg served as a campsite where visitors brought their own accommodation. The place then quickly developed into an artists’ colony. The artists’ group “Spiralen” was formed in Hvidbjerg, with Finn Gerdes at its centre. These stages add another perspective to your choice of destination: Hvidbjerg is not only a beach destination, but also a place where landscape, early bathing culture and art history can be considered together.
