If you would like to combine your stay with nature and cultural topics or time on the water, Krutyń offers various options. In the village centre, the Centre for Nature and Cultural Education is housed in a historic barn; the Krutynia River and the trails offer further activities with a different focus. When choosing accommodation, it helps to start by deciding what you would like your stay to focus on: exhibitions and nature education, trips on the river, or a hiking or cycling tour?

Nature and Culture in the Village Centre

The Centre for Nature and Cultural Education is located in a historic barn in the village centre of Krutyń. Its Galeria nad Mukrem hosts exhibitions on nature and historical and cultural topics. The nature chamber complements this focus with six themed dioramas featuring animals from habitats such as forests, lakes, the Krutynia River and meadows. The gallery and nature chamber have different emphases: one focuses on nature, history and culture as exhibition themes, while the other focuses on animals and their habitats.

The Centre for the Temporary Rehabilitation of Storks in Krutyń is another link to nature education. It is also an important nature education site of the Masurian Landscape Park. The centre is currently not accepting new bird patients temporarily. Both exhibitions and nature education are therefore among the themes that shape Krutyń.

Trips on the Krutynia River

For several decades, trips in flat-bottomed boats have traditionally taken place along a stretch of the Krutynia River. So-called sztakerzy propel the boats with poles. Kayak and boat trips on the Krutynia are also offered in Krutyń; availability may vary. There are several suitable spots by the bridge for launching and landing kayaks. If you are planning a water activity, you can choose between the boat tradition described here and kayak trips. Check locally to confirm which trips are currently operating.

Hiking Trail, Cycling Route and Natural Monument

There are different routes to explore on foot and by bike. The 20 km Szlak im. Karola Małłka hiking trail passes through Krutyń. The Rezerwaty Krutyńskie cycling route runs from Krutyń to the Krutynia Górna and Królewska Sosna nature reserves and back. You can choose a route based on how you prefer to navigate: the hiking trail’s length is specified, while the two nature reserves indicate the cycling route’s destinations.

Another natural feature is the Dąb Krutyński oak, a natural monument. The pedunculate oak grows in the forest at the fork in the road from Krutyń to Lake Mokre. It is listed as having a circumference of 530 cm and a height of 25 m; these measurements may change over time. As well as trails and water activities, you can also choose a specific natural feature: a single tree and its location.

Choose Accommodation to Suit Your Interests

The options differ mainly in whether they focus on nature and culture, an activity on the water, or an activity on land. You can use your travel interests to guide your search for hotels in Krutyń.
