Harsz is a lakeside village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Węgorzewo County and the Pozezdrze area, on Lake Harsz. In the Masurian Lake District, the village lies between Lake Mamry and Lake Dargin.

Lake Harsz is surrounded by fields and meadows; forests lie along its northern shore. It belongs to the Masurian Lake District and the mesoregion of the Great Masurian Lakes. It is connected to Lake Mamry by the watercourse “Dopływ z jez. Harsz”. The lake lies within the Great Masurian Lakes Landscape Protection Area and is designated as a quiet zone.

History

Harsz was founded in 1550 as Skarsaw. Historical German and Polish forms of the name are documented for the village. Kętrzyn, with the 14th-century Zamek Krzyżacki Rastenburg, lies in the wider regional surroundings of Harsz.
