Hiking Trails through Zabin
The blue “1 Korpusu Pancernego Wojska Polskiego” hiking trail runs from Nowe Laski via Garbowo and Żabin to Wierzchowo. It also passes through Żabin between Garbowo and Wierzchowo. The place names make the route described easy to follow and situate Zabin on a trail that extends beyond the village. Travelers who plan their trips around route itineraries can use this sequence as a starting point for exploring the trail.
The black ZP 1132s hiking trail also passes through Żabin and continues to Wierzchowo Pomorskie. It is 44 km long; it was formerly designated PI 1861s. The stated length refers to this hiking trail as a whole. This gives the route a specific point of reference that differs from the blue trail, whose course is described here through the places it passes. The two trails can be distinguished by their colors and names without confusing their route details.
Memorial Sites and History
Memorial stones in Zabin commemorate the marches and battles of Polish troops during the Second World War. Their connection is specific: they focus on the military movements and engagements of Polish troops during this period. Those interested in the village’s history will find here a distinct memorial site alongside the heritage sites associated with its earlier history.
These heritage sites include the former Protestant church. It is now a barn and is part of the heritage register. Its former religious function and current use should be clearly distinguished: at this site, Zabin preserves the memory of a former church building, while the building now serves as a barn.
Archaeological settlement site 11 is also part of the heritage register. In addition, two former German Protestant cemeteries are listed as heritage sites. These places represent different kinds of historical traces: an archaeological settlement site, former burial grounds, and a former church building. Together with the memorial stones, they offer several clearly distinct points of connection for anyone interested in Zabin’s history.
Another historical connection dates back to the 16th century. From 1563, the villages of Żabin, Żabinek, and Będlino were recorded in state documents as important official centers in Pomerania on the east–west route. This statement concerns the three named villages and how they were classified in state documents at the time. It broadens the view of Zabin to include a regional historical context alongside its local heritage and memorial sites.
Park in Zabin
Its condition sets it apart from a fully preserved park: it survives in fragmentary form. Those interested in historical features of the village can consider it as a distinct feature alongside the hiking trails and memorial sites.
Agrotourism accommodation in Zabin is part of the range of overnight stays offered by the municipality of Wierzchowo. This clearly places the accommodation search within the municipality.
